In Bulgaria, SeeNews reported that Bosnian aluminum products manufacturer Nova Alumina said it plans to develop a waste-fuelled power plant worth over $156 million, to improve its carbon footprint by shifting away from coal.
The project will be realized by Dongfang Electric, the Chinese company that built the Stanari thermal power plant near Doboj in Bosnia, according to the report.
The largest part of Nova Alumina’s products are exported to the European Union, which has tough requirements to reduce CO2 emissions and ensure sustainable production, therefore the company energy sources have to be aligned with current environmental protection standards, Nova Alumina said.
