BNDES provides $80.5M for biogas purification plant in Sao Paulo

In Brazil, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved the financing in the total estimated amount of R$ 450 million for Biometano Verde Paulínia S.A. (BVP) build a biogas purification plant in biomethane at Ecoparque Orizon VR, in Paulínia (SP). BVP is Onebio’s social reason, a partnership between Edge, the Cosan Group company, and Orizon VR. Of the approved amount, about 80% will be financed with resources from the Climate Fund and 20% through the Finem line.

Onebio, which will receive all the biogas generated from municipal waste from the landfill in Paulínia, is the largest biomethane plant in Brazil, with the capacity to produce up to 225,000 m3 per day of gas of renewable origin. During its construction, it is estimated that 3 thousand direct and indirect jobs have been generated, contributing to regional development and advancement of the low-carbon economy in Brazil.
