In Brazil, National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved financing of R$ 300 million to expand the corn plant of Neomille S.A. in Chapadão do Céu (GO). The supported investments will allow the unit to increase its capacity of ethanol production of corn to up to 527,000 m3 per crop, of DDGS (dry grains with solubles) — a product used in animal nutrition — for up to 265,000 tons per crop and corn oil for up to 21,000 tons per crop.
According to Neomille’s estimate, the annual greenhouse gas emissions to be avoided by the project reach 101,000 tons of CO 2 and. Also according to the company, with the entry into operation of the expansion of the plant, 91 permanent jobs will be generated, between direct and indirect. During the works, the number of temporary indirect jobs created can reach 277.
The financing of BNDES has R$ 240 million from the Climate Fund and R$ 60 million from the BNDES Finem Encouraged line.
