In Spain, the storage and regasification plant of liquefied natural gas Bizkaia Gas Bay (BBG) has obtained the necessary certification to manage bioLNG, that is, biomethane of renewable origin, which has all the guarantees of traceability and that can be supplied in the facilities that this plant has in the Port of Bilbao.
Bilbao Bizkaia Gas, the storage plant owned by the Basque Energy and Enagás Entity, located in the Port of Bilbao, has begun to offer the bioLNG cargo service, both in cisterns and on ships, after successfully passing the ISCC audit on December 15, 2025, an essential milestone to start the operation of this renewable fuel in its facilities.
The ISCC certification guarantees compliance with the sustainability criteria established by the European Commission and endorses the traceability of biomethane used for the supply of bioLNG.
