BioCirc lands $43.8M investment from shareholders and employees

April 7, 2025 |

In Denmark, in order to carry out projects totaling DKK1 billion in 2025, including the realization of the world’s largest biogas plant in Skive, BioCirc has just completed an internal financing round among the company’s shareholders and employees of DKK300 million, which, due to significant oversubscription, is causing the company to call an extraordinary general meeting to meet demand.

The funds will go to the following projects:

Expansion of Vinkel Biogas from a tonnage of 430,000 tons to 1,100,000 tons of biomass . This means that the plant will be expanded to the world’s largest biogas plant and thus contribute to the farmers in Skive municipality being able to convert their business to a greener operation and comply with the obligations in the green tripartite agreement. At the same time, the plant is also expected to be expanded with a grass-protein plant, so that the municipality can once again take part in its own obligation within the green tripartite agreement in connection with the land conversion.

Establishment of an approx. 55ha solar park around BioCirc’s biogas plant in Skive , which will ensure that the power at the plant comes to a greater extent from a direct green source, and it is expected that the first power can be delivered to the grid as early as May 2025. At the same time, the upcoming grid connection will mean that the plant’s transition to functioning as a battery will be made possible, and thus that BioCirc can embark on the next ambition in the green transition; namely to be able to use its assets to help balance the electricity grid – and thus create a better and cheaper green transition.

Construction of five Carbon Capture plants in Skive, Viborg, Vesthimmerland, Favrskov and Haderslev municipalities, respectively, which will remove a total of approx. 1 million tons of CO2 and thus be a significant contribution to the five municipalities’ CO2 reduction objectives. At the same time, it is part of BioCirc’s allocation of the NECCS pool from the Danish state of approx. DKK1 billion from 2026-2032.
