In Japan, BeHydro, DAIHATSU INFINEARTH, Mizuno Marine, and JPNH₂YDRO signed a partnership agreement to deploy hydrogen marine engines in Japan. The agreement, covering technology transfer, testing, servicing, and regulatory alignment, was witnessed by Her Royal Highness Princess Astrid of Belgium, with support from both nations’ ambassadors.
The agreement enables deployment of BeHydro’s dual-fuel and 100% hydrogen engines for port and coastal use, beginning with two V12 engines for a tugboat at TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING and three inline 6-cylinder units for a zero-emission vessel backed by the Nippon Foundation. JPNH₂YDRO will act as general agent, overseeing local testing and import coordination, while DAIHATSU INFINEARTH handles validation and standards compliance.
“We have been solving many issues around the implementation of H2ICE technology into the shipping industry,” said Mitsuo Kambara, President of JPNH₂YDRO. “We will accelerate the promotion of hydrogen-powered ship solutions.”
Roy Campe, CTO of CMB.TECH, called the agreement “a pivotal moment in the rollout of hydrogen-powered solutions.”
Service and commissioning support will be provided by Mizuno Marine. DAIHATSU INFINEARTH President Yoshinobu Hotta said the company will “contribute to the adoption of hydrogen engines” through its development expertise and sales network.
