In China, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng met with Denmark’s Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov in Beijing on January 27 to renew a bilateral memorandum of understanding on green maritime technology and shipbuilding. The meeting marked a continued push by both countries to coordinate industrial strategies and deepen technical alignment on low- and zero-carbon fuel vessel development.
“China and Denmark are highly complementary in shipbuilding and maritime technologies,” Li said, calling for strengthened cooperation on international standards and fuel innovation. He pointed to joint opportunities in alternative fuel R&D, new energy vehicles, and digital industries, framing the partnership as a contribution to global green development.
Bødskov welcomed the renewal of the agreement, saying it reflected the direction of both nations’ industrial strategies. “We will continue to support Danish enterprises expanding investment and operations in China,” he said, underscoring the goal of advancing bilateral industrial cooperation.
The meeting included senior officials from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and reaffirmed both countries’ roles as leaders in maritime decarbonization. With Denmark already a key supplier of green shipping systems and China home to the world’s largest shipyards, the memorandum sets the stage for deeper joint deployment.
