In Argentina, Pagina 12 reported that the estimate for soybean in the country’s core region for the 2024/25 cycle was adjusted to 16.5 million tons, with a yield of 32.2 qq/ha, far from the 40 qq/ha of the last campaign, according to a report by the Rosario Grain Exchange (BCR).
The drought in January broke expectations and left irreversible losses, indicated the report.
According to the report, “the drought will be strongly felt in the 2024/25 harvest. The first projection is for 16.5 million tons, far from the production horizon that was set at planting with normal weather and which allowed for an anticipation of 19.2 million tons. Although 16% more was planted, as a result of the late arrival of the rains, 1.5 million tons less could be obtained compared to last year.”
