In India, The Hindu reported that Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao directed Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) officials to formulate a comprehensive plan to establish a waste-to-energy unit at the Kannahalli waste processing plant.
Rao directed the officials to formulate a plan after discussing its challenges and shortcomings with the private company Sataram, which is currently operating the processing plant. Every day, 350 tons of waste are being processed in the Kannahalli plant, according to the BBMP.
The BBMP chief also visited the Seegehalli processing unit and demanded efficient processing of the waste load at the plant, which has a capacity of processing 120 tons of waste per day, according to the report.
