Atvos gets permissions to build its first biomethane plant

March 27, 2025 |

In Brazil, Atvos has received the Installation License (LI) for the construction of its first biomethane plant. The new plant will be built in Nova Alvorada do Sul (MS), where the Santa Luzia Unit (USL) is already installed, responsible for the production of ethanol and electricity from sugarcane biomass.

With the document issued by the Mato Grosso do Sul Environmental Institute (IMASUL), an environmental agency of the state government, the company is expected to begin earthmoving work in April, which should generate around 100 jobs in the region. At the peak of the works, more than 300 new jobs will be created, which strengthens the company’s commitment to the socioeconomic development of the regions where it operates.

The unit, which will use waste from the sugarcane production chain, such as filter cake and vinasse, is expected to start operating by the end of 2026. The plant will be installed in an area of 320 thousand square meters and will have the capacity to produce 28.3 million cubic meters of biomethane per year.
