Argentine soybean area is expected to fall 4.3% in 2025/26, exchange says

September 14, 2025 |

In Argentina, Bichos de Campo stated that a report by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange said that the preliminary estimate for Argentine soybean area in 2025/26 is 18.4 million hectare is, 4.3% lower than the previous crop cycle, although it is the second highest in the last five cycles.

“The reduction would be explained mainly by a lower planting rate for early soybeans compared to crops such as corn and sunflowers,” stated the report.

“The recovery of corn acreage, favored by the decrease in pressure from Dalbulus maidis , along with the increase in wheat and the good performance of sunflowers, explain the reduction in early plantings,” it added.

Thanks to the increase in wheat area recorded this year, the area under second-season soybeans is expected to partially offset the decline in first-season soybean acreage, the exchange reported.
