In Argentina, Infobae reported that Argentina’s Ministry of Economy announced the extension of the temporary reduction in grain export duties on wheat and barley exports until March 31, 2026.
Meanwhile, the government decided to exclude other crops such as soybeans and corn from an extension, which will again have higher duties starting in July.
Until June 30, the percentages on the main crops were established as follows: soybeans went from 33% to 26% and their derivatives fell from 31% to 24.5% . Export duties on wheat were reduced to 9.5%, down from 12%, as was the case with barley, corn , and sorghum . Sunflowers went from 7% to 5.5 %.
Agricultural workers welcomed the measure, although they demanded that it be extended to other grains. “We welcome the Ministry of Economy’s decision to extend the grain export duties reduction. It’s the right path. We believe it would be desirable for them to do the same for coarse grain crops —soybeans and corn—which have a significant impact on production and exports in Argentina,” stated a statement from grain exporters chamber Ciara-CEC.
