In Argentina, Agrofy News reported that sorghum production in Argentina showed a strong rebound in the 2024/2025 season, as the harvest reached 2.9 million tons , representing a year-over-year increase of 16%
According to the July report from the National Directorate of Agriculture, this volume was achieved thanks to a planted area of 1 million hectares, 22% more than the previous season. Nationally, the harvest is already close to 100% complete, although some plots remain to be harvested.
The provinces with the highest participation in the average of the last five years are Santa Fe (164,953 ha), Santiago del Estero (120,052 ha), Buenos Aires (118,911 ha), Córdoba (117,224 ha), Entre Ríos (99,723 ha), Chaco (71,742 ha) and La Pampa (36,040 ha).
In terms of foreign trade, Argentine sorghum maintains a strong export profile. In the last five years, the country shipped grain to 67 international destinations, with China as the main buyer, absorbing 89% of the total volume.
