In Argentina, Noticias Agropecuarias reported that Argentina purchased 80% of the total soybean production in Paraguay for the 2023/2024 campaign, according to a report by the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Traders of Cereals and Oilseeds (CAPECO).
The report stated that Argentina was the main buyer of Paraguayan soybeans with 84% of the market, followed by Brazil (10%) and Russia (3%), while the rest was sent to Peru, Spain, the USA, Uruguay, Chile, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Guatemala and Indonesia.
Paraguay reached a record 2023/24 soybean production of 11 million tons. At the end of the year, soybean exports for the 2023/24 harvest season closed with a historic volume of 7.98 million tons shipped, that is, 1.4 million more than the previous period.
