Argentina authorizes a new genetically modified soybean resistant to insects and herbicides.

In Argentina, Economis reported that the Ministry of Economy, through Resolution 169/2025 of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries , approved the commercialization of the genetically modified soybean DBN-Ø82Ø5-8 , developed by DBNBC Argentina . 

The biotechnological event provides protection against lepidopteran insects and tolerance to the herbicide glufosinate ammonium, according to the report.

The resolution establishes that before registering soybeans in the National Registry of Cultivars (INASE), the company must submit an Insect Resistance Management Plan (PMRI), subject to evaluation by  the National Advisory Commission on Agricultural Biotechnology (CONABIA) and the Innovation and Biotechnology Coordination of the National Directorate of Bioeconomy.
