In Argentina, EFE reported that the Argentine government approved for commercialization a new variety of genetically modified soybeans developed by the German multinational BASF.
The new transgenic event was approved by a resolution of the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries of the Argentine Ministry of Economy, published last week in the Official Gazette.
The product developed by BASF combines two events previously approved in Argentina and is herbicide-tolerant and resistant to the soybean cyst nematode (Heterodera glycines), according to the report.
