In Argentina, AND Sur reported that steel producer Aluar and German company GreenSinnergy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that seeks to capture the carbon dioxide emissions generated in the aluminum plant and transform them into sustainable aviation fuel.
The technical focus of the agreement is the potential integration of the Aluar plant in Chubut province with the Southern Eco-Refineries (ERS) project, promoted by GreenSinnergy.
This initiative relies on Power-to-Liquid technologies, which allow for the reuse of captured industrial CO2 and its combination with green hydrogen to produce synthetic fuels, including SAF for aviation, according to the report.
