In California, Biochar Today reports that Lake County Commissioners unanimously approved earlier this month the permit required for the proposed AG Forest Wood Processing Bioenergy Project led by Scotts Valley Energy Corporation in partnership with the Habematolel Pomo Tribal Nation. The biochar plant seeks to convert forest woodchips into syngas to power generators on county-leased land. The approval follows months of controversy by the public regarding the potential environmental effects of the project, which the county’s planning commission says will be mitigated.
