In the UK, SAF Investor reported that former Airbus business developer director Kwame Bekoe announced the launch of digital marketplace AfriSAF with the aim of connecting feedstock owners with buyers while providing logistics and support services to build a robust feedstock economy. “Africa’s vast landmass, home to 54 nations, contains abundant untapped agricultural feedstocks, crucial for tomorrow’s energy needs,” said the company in a press release. “Through our value-added approach to feedstock transactions, we deliver benefits across profit, social impact, and environmental sustainability. Our current focus includes partnerships with agricultural out-growers and commercial farmers to produce energy oil crops using intercropping and marginal land approaches. This aligns with EU Annex IX A (Advanced Biofuels) under the Renewable Energy Directive, qualifying for RefuelEU SAF requirements,” it added. The report noted that AfriSAF aims to establish clean energy production across Africa, beginning with mature pathways and readily available feedstocks that meet EU Annex IX B standards.
