ACCIONA Energía beguns injecting biomass power into grid from new 50MW Logrosán facility

December 24, 2025 |

In Spain, ACCIONA Energía has begun to inject renewable energy from the biomass plant in Logrosán (Cáceres) to the grid. With a power of 50MW, the plant will produce 380GWh per year, avoiding the emission of more than 187,000 tons of CO2 annually into the atmosphere. This figure is comparable to removing some 60,000 combustion vehicles from circulation or planting 9,000 trees.

The annual consumption of the plant is estimated at 275,000 metric tons of biomass per year, mostly from forest waste. Its collection will contribute to an active management of the mountain, reducing the fuel load and, with it, the risk of fires in the area and, above all, its virulence.

ACCIONA Energía was awarded the construction, operation and maintenance of the biomass plant in Logrosán in the third auction for the granting of the economic regime of renewable energies convened by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic challenge, which guarantees a sale price of the electricity that the plant produces for 20 years.
