In Belgium, Devan Chemicals will launch two renewable textile finishing products at industry trade show Heimtextil.

The offering includes a renewable antimicrobial, dubbed BI-OME natural, and phase-change material, called Tones of Cool Bio.

BI-OME includes linseed oil and chrysanthemum. Devan says the product leverages plants’ own antimicrobial defense systems.  “As known, the bedding industry and more and more governments are planning to invoke regulations on recyclability, therefore technologies such as BI-OME Natural, which are recyclable, could gain more interest over time,” the company tells Home Textiles Today.

Tones of Cool Bio reduces body temperature by enabling a textile to transfer heat throughout. Tones of Cool Bio is 100% plant-based, as certified by DIN lab. It will only be available for bedding.
