In Switzerland, Clariant has launched a biobased version of a pigment that is the auto industry’s most widely used in red exterior car coatings.

Dubbed Pigment Red 254, Clariant says it is the only pigment producer to offer Diketopyrrolo Pyrrole (DPP) pigments, including Pigment Red 254 and other red, pink and violet shades, produced from biobased succinic acid. DPP is used in automotive applications because of its durability and boldness. It is used in other forms of transportation as well, including buses and trains.
