In Canada, the canadian government has announced it will invest $7 million in a new biomass technology center using some of the $3 billion in government funds allocated under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.

The Biomass Cluster will be led by BioFuelNet Canada Network with a charter to improve technology for using agricultural biomass as feedstock for bioenergy and other biobased products.

The funding, which will be combined with $3.1 million promised from industry, also includes $888,061 for McGill University to fund development of biological inputs for biomass crops such as switchgrass.
