In London, plant-based packaging firm Tetra Pak is celebrating the delivery of 500 million Tetra Rex Biobased beverage cartons. The achievement was announced at London’s Museum of Brands.

Launched in October 2014, Tetra Rex Bio-based is made from paperboard and plastics derived from sugarcane. The paperboard is made from Forest Stewardship Council certified and controlled sources.

“We are delighted to see the growing popularity of Tetra Rex Bio-based among customers,” Christina Chester, Product Director at Tetra Pak tells FoodIngredientsFirst. “Packages made entirely from renewable materials are not only good for the planet but also good for brands that seek to differentiate themselves with stronger environmental messages. With everything traceable to its plant origin, consumers are assured that the package they hold in their hands is derived entirely from plants.”
