In the United Kingdom, one company is trying to keep music festivals festive while also improving the environmental safety of such events.

Eco Stardust, a company that characterizes itself as a “team of eco-conscious festival goers,”  has launched biodegradable, compostable glitter made from plant cellulose.  “We love glitter; we cover ourselves in it and throw it around like confetti at parties and festivals,” the company adds.

Conventional glitter is composed of tiny plastic shards that are harmful to animals and fish if ingested, according to  Shemazing. Environmental scientists have gone as far as to call for a glitter ban. EcoStardust Biodegradable Glitter is also vegan and cruelty free.
