In the United Kingdom, Teesside University has announced a £300 million (USD406 million) investment, which will include a new, £22.3 million research and teaching facility at its Darlington campus to support industrial biotechnology research.

“The vision is to make Teesside a leading university with an international reputation for academic excellence that provides an outstanding student and learning experience,” says the university’s vice-chancellor and chief executive Professor Paul Croney. “Students are at the heart of everything we do—we already have a great campus but we want to improve it even more.”

Another £80 million will go toward improving student accommodation.
