CovationBio and Oscar Chandler partner on biobased yarn

In Delaware, Covation Biomaterials and Oscar Chandler & Co. Inc. have partnered on a sustainable alternative for the knitting industry made by treating CovationBio’s Sorona biobased polymer with a specialized dyeing process. The resulting  material provides two-way and four-way stretch in applications such as socks, sweaters, and tape fabrics as well as a sustainable alternative to spandex in some applications.

Oscar Chandler & Co. Inc. will provide the yarn to its extensive customer network throughout North and Central America. Sorona already used in various apparel applications, including athleisure, athletic wear, insulation, swimwear, outerwear, suiting, and faux fur. The polymer has received certifications such as USDA Certified Biobased Product, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, and bluesign® approval.

The partnership also highlights the growing trend of monomaterial garments in the textile industry.
