In Italy, luxury fashion house Gucci has launched its first pet collection, replete with a $7,500 pet bed, $460 poop bag holder, $500 leash, and use of vegan leather and sustainable materials.

The 2022 Gucci Pet Collection “infuses the everyday with a magical aura,” according to Gucci’s website. “Unveiled in a colorful, retro-inspired campaign, the pieces allow each animal’s personality to shine as an ode to the Creative Director’s vision of individuality.” The collection is also “crafted from animal-free raw materials that are primarily from sustainable, renewable and bio-based sources,” the fashion house adds.

While a pet carrier retailing for over $4,000 may be outside the budget of the average pet parent, hearts may be warmed to know that at least one average pup benefited from Gucci’s foray into companion animal luxury goods. Artist Max Siedentopf, who shot the collection’s marketing campaign, adopted one of its subjects—a dachshund he named Lucio.
