In Germany, popular toymaker Playmobil has launched a sustainable toy line called Wiltopia that features bioplastic figurines and themes intended to educate children about the environment and animals.

Timed for World Environment Day on June 5, the playsets are comprised of over 80% sustainable materials. The materials include recycled materials in addition to bioplastics.

“Wiltopia is all about growing up in a world where animals and nature are respected and protected,” says aNb Media. “To achieve this, it is vital to share knowledge – children can only value, love and protect what they actually know.”  Along this theme, starting in July Playmobil sets with animal figurines will also include animal cards with facts about the creature.
“We live in a breathtaking world filled with abundant species that are worth loving and protecting,” the media outlet notes. “Wiltopia raises and even expands the fascination for our big blue planet… The products’ innovative material and the educational approach add a special value to children’s play.”
