In British Columbia, two entrepreneurs have introduced an innovative solution to the problem of plastic waste from straws—pasta tubes you can sip a drink through.
Cofounders Cory Melville and Vanessa Brascia tell the Tri-City News that their straw-ghetti will last two and a half hours in a cold drink. Brascia’s grandfather, Nonno Guiseppe Carlucci, was the inspiration for the straw and appears on the packaging.
The product is available in short and tall varieties. Early customers include smoothie bars and supplement stores. “The market is huge right now because everyone is trying to do their part,” Brascia adds.
