In Europe, Swedish clothing brand Filippa K and Italian yarn company Eurojersey are going to use Colorifix Limited’s biological dying process in their manufacturing.

Colorifix’s process uses engineering microorganisms to produce naturally occurring pigments from agricultural byproducts such as sugar molasses. The company’s technology also uses far less water than conventional dying and negates the need to use zero heavy metals, solvents or acids.

“Biological dyeing is a significant step in our journey to serve both our customers and the planet, and this partnership reinforces Filippa K’s long-term strategy and deep commitment to innovation and sustainability,” Erik Larsson, Filippa K’s sustainability director, tells just-style.

Matteo Cecchi, Eurojersey sales director, notes that Colorifix’s technology is compatible with its existing dye machines.
