In New York, cellulosic fiber manufacturer Birla Cellulose is opening a design studio in Manhattan’s garment district to help boost sales of its Liva fabric brand to the city’s fashion elite.

The company also has plans to open similar studios at other fashion hubs, including London and Hong Kong, Birla Cellulose President of Marketing Manohar Samuel tells The Hindu Business Line.  “We are launching the [New York] studio in November this year, then our seasonal collections will be available for global brands.”

A studio in Noida, India—known as Liva Accredited Partner Forum—was opened this year. It has samples with technical specifications for woven, knitted, and flat-knitted fabrics included in the Liva brand. Future LAPFs are planned in the Indian cities of Tirupur, Jaipur, and Bengaluru.

“We see around 15 kiosks in the coming years and about six studios in the country as of now. Four studios in India, Jaipur and Bengaluru for sure. Noida is already present and Tirupur is almost ready,” Samuel added.
