In France, Deinove has announced it will launch its first cosmetics active ingredient—a carotenoid with antioxidant and healing properties—in the first half of 2018.

The carotenoid is produced via Deinococcus. Deinove says required stability studies have “proved positive” while in vitro and clinical tests have confirmed efficacy. In vivo tests are planned, as is large-scale manufacturing of product batches for sampling.

“The first commercial contacts with leaders in the cosmetics sector are very promising and we will unveil the nature of our innovative carotenoid when it is officially launched,” says Emmanuel Petiot, Deinove CEO. Anti-aging makes up half of the total skin care market, Deinove adds.
