SRC and GREEN MARINE Collaborate to Launch Methanol Superstorage

June 19, 2024 |

In Estonia, SRC Group and GREEN MARINE will develop and market SRC’s Methanol Superstorage, using SPS Technology’s Sandwich Plate System, which increases shipboard tank volumes by 85%.  This technology eliminates the need for traditional cofferdams, optimizing space and efficiency on vessels, mitigating methanol’s lower energy density compared to conventional heavy fuel oil.

GREEN MARINE, know for its comprehensive services in methanol project management, will collaborate with SRC to provide technical coverage for methanol integration on both retrofit and new build vessels. This partnership aims to establish a mature sales framework to facilitate global adoption of Methanol Superstorage. GREEN MARINE’s recent agreements include preparations for projected Chinese green methanol supply.

Methanol Superstorage has received Approval in Principle from a leading IACS society, ensuring compliance with ship regulatory requirements.

“We are well-placed to onboard Methanol Superstorage for both retrofit and new build vessels,” said Hannes Lilp, CEO of SRC Group. “In parallel to class approvals, SRC and GREEN MARINE will also oversee and manage 3rd Party technical development” said Lilp.
