The Biomass Feedstock National User Facility (BFNUF) offers technology and expertise to help the U.S. bioenergy industry overcome biomass challenges during scale up and integration of biomass preprocessing facilities. The BFNUF is a congressionally designated, national asset designed to help de-risk the scale up of bioeconomy. A reconfigurable preprocessing testbed that is utilized by both […]
In this presentation we looked at how Virent feedstock flexibility allows the use of commercially available sugars today, with the prospect of cellulosic sugars when commercially available and also the scalability of the technology, the opportunities in drop in fuels and also Virent biochemicals used in existing chemical manufacturing processes to produce sustainable plastics, fibers […]
The bioeconomy is on fire, and three tales reveal the extent to which the bulls are running. One in RNG, one in industrial furnaces, one in integrated cellulosic biorefining. And you thought we were going to point to hydrogen, SAF or renewable diesel. Those are hot, too — but not quite as white how. Hot […]
In this presentation, we explored the challenges faced by global renewable chemical and materials producers in shifting towards low carbon alternatives — new processes, novel molecules with enhanced properties for green hydrogen, Methanol, plant-based meats & fish, fermentation capacity and true precision, plastic, the role of celebrities in driving adoption, economy-wide low carbon standards, the […]
By Steve Weiss Special to The Digest At a recent bioeconomy-focused ABLC conference I counted over a dozen companies striving to ‘bring to life’ first-of-its-kind (FOIK) projects, in renewable chemicals, fuels or materials – typically requiring hundreds of millions each in financing. A critical ingredient to make these real? High-quality – investment-quality – offtake agreements. […]
