ABLC Digital-ready Q&A

ABLC 2020 – latest updates

What is the latest guidance from the District of Columbia regarding small to medium sized events?

As of now, the District of Columbia has issued guidance through June 8th and nothing yet for July. So, ABLC could become a hybrid, with some participating digitally and some in-person. But we’re preparing for any outcome.

When will we know for sure?

As soon as D.C issues guidance covering the month of July.

ABLC 2020 – the Digital event

What will the Digital event include?

Each day (Tuesday July 7 through Friday July 10), we’ll have: 8 hours of streamed presentations (24 in all, 20 minutes each including Q&A), 1-1/2 hours of panel sessions, and a 1/2 hour daily lounge in the last half hour for informal networking.

Plus, 8 unique digital, interactive panels including Finance, Policy, Biogas, Cellulosics, Feedstock & Supply chain, Aviation, Heavy Duty (DME, Diesel, Marine), and Hydrogen (the ABLC Wolfpack).

ABLC Americas will be streamed 0800-1800 ET, ABLC Europe will be streamed 0200-1200 ET and ABLC Asia will be streamed 2200-0800 ET.

What is an OPEN presentation, what is CLOSED?

Some presentations will be OPEN to the world (anyone can stream – registered ABLC delegates plus anyone, anywhere on any device via BioChannel.TV), some will be CLOSED (exclusive to registered ABLC delegates only). All panels will be CLOSED and all sponsor presentations will be OPEN.

What is a Request for Connection, or RFC?

All delegates will have the option to make a Request for Connection to any delegate, sponsor, panelist or presenter, and can receive RFCs from delegates, presenters and sponsors, via their profile page.  Sponsors, during their presentations, can receive live RFCs from delegates and anyone in the world, anywhere on any device.

When will the new agenda be available?

Recording

What do I need to provide prior to recording?

You’ll need to provide your slides to us, in PDF or PPTX format, no later than 5pm ET on the evening before you record. You can email those, or send a link to a Google docs or other download site if your file is too large for email.

Where do I go to present?

You will receive a URL and you’ll point your browser there, we promote you on our end to presenter status and load your slides. You will have access to the controls during your presentation to advance your slides.

Will people be able to see my face?

You’ll have a static image, but we will not schedule live video feed from your desktop except by special arrangement. The primary concern is distraction — in our tests, the presence of faces draws attention away from slides and your remarks, reduces retention and recall of your message. Also there are the technical concerns regarding bandwidth at your location to upload live video at the required speed, and familiarity with controls, lighting, sound quality, webcam image quality.

Will I run slides from my desktop?

No, we will load those on our end, but you will control the slides during your presentation, to advance or go backwards.

Can I include videos in my presentation?

Videos are welcome, these must be supplied as separate files, they cannot run embedded in your presentation, unfortunately, and you should indicate to us where those need to run so we can run those at the right moment for you.

Should I have a contact information slide?

Yes, please have one slide with your name, title, organization, photo (if you like), email and phone number (if you like). The text size should be at least 18 points.

How long will my recording block be?

These will be 30 minute recording blocks, for your 15 minute presentation, and we will also record some direct Q&A with you, and have some time left over for re-recording as desired.

Could I re-record my presentation at a later date if I have updated information?

There will be a limited number of re-recording slots, and priority will be given to those with technical flaws — but it is possible that you would be able to have a second recording block.

What is the VIP Lounge?
