X-Press Feeders signs bio-methanol offtake LOI
In the UK, X-Press Feeders signed an LOI with UK clean-energy firm PuriFire Energy to explore offtake and co-development of bio-methanol for shipping. PuriFire’s initial facilities aim to produce 10,000–15,000 metric tons per year, while partners will study larger port-based production across the UK and Europe. X-Press, which launched green-methanol routes in Europe in 2024, seeks to secure supply as rising maritime demand for green methanol currently outstrips planned production.
PuriFire converts wastewater and waste carbon into bio‑methanol using a patented hydrothermal gasification process. The company says the technology enables decentralized, cost‑competitive production that can be deployed onsite or close to demand centers.
