New Jersey utility installs Greasezilla FOG separation and recovery system

November 4, 2026 |

In New Jersey, Greasezilla™ announced that the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission (PVSC) has chosen Greasezilla to install its FOG separation and recovery system at PVSC’s Newark Bay treatment facility. The installation will have the capacity to process up to 15 million gallons of hauled grease-trap waste annually, making it one of the largest systems deployed in the country.

PVSC operates one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in the United States, designed for a capacity of 330 million gallons per day (MGD) with an annual average flow of approximately 226 MGD, serving 48 municipalities in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union counties. PVSC selected Greasezilla after an extensive review to find an efficient, high-volume solution for managing northern New Jersey’s commercial FOG intake.

The new Greasezilla system will integrate directly into PVSC’s existing plant utilities via its Centralized Steam Boiler System, eliminating the need for a supplementary heating system.
