In South Korea, Eastern Pacific Shipping named its first 93,000 cubic meter very large ammonia carrier, Terra Clove, at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Ulsan shipyard, marking a significant step toward commercial operation of ammonia fueled shipping, China Ship Inspection reports.

The vessel features the world’s first Everllence B&W 6G60ME-C10.5-LGIA ammonia dual-fuel two stroke main engine, capable of operating primarily on ammonia with the flexibility to switch to conventional marine fuel.

At the ceremony, EPS founder Idan Ofer highlighted the companies’ three decade partnership, encompassing approximately 70 ships and more than $7.9 billion in orders, suggesting further collaboration: “In the future, the two companies may even work together to build nuclear powered ships.”
