RoughRider Energy plans 240M gallon ethanol plant in North Dakota
In North Dakota, RoughRider Energy is developing a large corn-ethanol plant near Glen Ullin, North Dakota, with planned annual production of 240 million gallons. The project is expected to consume approximately 84 million bushels of corn annually and generate coproducts including 660,000 tons of distillers grains and 95 million pounds of corn oil. The proposed facility will also include equipment to capture and compress fermentation CO₂ for transport to a planned geological storage site, potentially supporting lower-carbon ethanol production. Its location offers access to rail, natural gas pipelines and interstate transport. Construction timing has been reported differently: local television coverage cites spring 2027, while industry reporting anticipates construction beginning sooner and commercial operations in 2029.
