Conab forecasts record soybean and corn harvests in 2026/27.
In Brazil, Reuters reported that Brazil’s 2026/27 soybean crop is expected to reach a record 181.6 million tons, a 0.7% increase compared to last year’s production, despite a moderate expansion of the planted area and a slight drop in productivity, according to the first grain survey by the National Supply Company (Conab) for the 2026/27 season.
For corn, the state-owned company forecasts a total production of 148.0 million tons, a 2.4% increase compared to the previous harvest, with expected increases in volumes for all three corn crops, according to the report.
In the case of soybeans, the state-owned company pointed out that the prospect of a record harvest in Brazil, the world’s largest producer and exporter of the oilseed, is influenced by the 1.4% growth in the area to be sown, projected at 49.3 million hectares, it added.
Average soybean productivity, in turn, was estimated to fall by 0.8%, reflecting both the high yields recorded in the 2025/26 crop and “climatic uncertainties” for the next cycle.
