Moeve and ENSO decarbonize industries with advanced biomass-based models

October 13, 2026 |

In Spain, Moeve and ENSO have reached an agreement to promote industrial decarbonization through the development of energy alternatives that allow the progressive replacement of fossil fuels.

In this way they will offer alternatives for industrial processes intensive in energy, in sectors such as chemistry, paper and cardboard or food and beverages, characterized by a high demand for steam and thermal energy, which currently have generation systems powered by coal, natural gas and other fossil fuels.

In addition to transforming these facilities into advanced biomass-based models, the alliance also opens up new opportunities in the development of renewable gases: from the conversion of biogas plants to biomethane, to the potential development of e-fuels (RFNBO), through the use of biogenic CO2 generated in bioenergy facilities. Its capture and valorization opens the possibility of turning it into a new raw material. In this area, Moeve will be able to participate as an offtaker potential of the new green molecules produced, complementing the capabilities of ENSO in renewable generation and biogenic carbon capture.

ENSO already has experience in this technological integration in its bioelectric plant in Garray (Soria), which was the first bioelectric plant in Spain that integrated a system of capture and valuation of food CO2 of 100% renewable origin.
