Some LEGO elements now produced with e-methanol
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Danish toy maker the LEGO Group has started using e-methanol to help produce some LEGO elements following a 2023 agreement with European Energy A/S.
The company has introduced the renewable material in the production of more than 90 robust and rigid elements, including cross axles, connectors, steering wheels and Minifigure hands, according to the report.
European Energy is making the e-methanol at the Kasso facility in Aabenraa, Denmark, which the Danish renewables operate in a joint venture with Mitsui & Co.
The LEGO Group said that the start of using e-methanol for the production of plastic follows more than five years of partnership, testing, learning and scaling. The company worked with suppliers to integrate the new material into existing manufacturing infrastructure and production methods, the report added.
