EWE to supply Tesa with green hydrogen from Emden project
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that German energy supplier EWE AG and compatriot tape producer Tesa signed an agreement for the supply of 500 tons of green hydrogen per year from EWE’s 320-MW hydrogen production plant in Emden, which is set to start operations at the end of 2027.
From 2028, the contract will cover the planned annual hydrogen demand of the Tesa plant in Hamburg. The plant will use the hydrogen for steam generation by means of two hydrogen-ready dual-fuel steam boilers, the first of which has already been installed. The hydrogen will reach the Tesa plant via the emerging hydrogen core network, according to the report.
EWE’s plant in Emden is part of an IPCEI clean hydrogen project in northwest Germany supported by the federal government and the state of Lower Saxony, the report added.
