AM Green secures €585 million German ammonia supply contract

October 7, 2026 |

In India, AM Green Ammonia has secured a 10-year renewable ammonia supply contract worth at least €585 million through Germany’s government funded H2Global auction, with shipments from Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, to Germany expected to begin in 2029.

Under the agreement, Germany’s Hintco will purchase the ammonia for resale in the European market, with the option to purchase additional volumes using proceeds from those sales.

AM Green is converting an existing natural gas based ammonia and urea production complex into a renewable ammonia facility using alkaline electrolysis. The plant will use renewable electricity backed by pumped hydro storage to meet European Union requirements.

The ammonia will be shipped through Kakinada Seaports, directly adjacent to the production facility.
