Vietnam to develop roadmap for sustainable aviation fuel adoption
In Vietnam, VnEconomy reported that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) is coordinating efforts to develop a roadmap for the adoption of SAF, while completing regulations on greenhouse gas emissions reduction in civil aviation, according to a report submitted to the Ministry of Construction.
The CAAV noted that the roadmap aims to prevent market and airline “shocks” during the transition to sustainable fuels.
On the regulatory front, the CAAV is drafting a circular outlining regulations on greenhouse gas emissions mitigation and environmental protection in civil aviation operations to seek feedback from relevant ministries and agencies. These regulations align with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and support Vietnam’s national commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, according to the report.
In production, domestic enterprises have begun researching technologies and feedstocks for SAF processing, it added.
