New SAF plant in the Netherlands to boost demand for waste fats and oils
In Ukraine, UkrAgroConsult reported that a new sustainable aviation fuel plant with a capacity of around 100,000 tons per year is under construction in the Netherlands. SkyNRG’s DSL-01 facility is being built at the Delfzijl chemical park and is expected to become fully operational in 2028.
The plant will use waste fats and oils as feedstocks. They will be converted into SAF that can be blended with conventional jet fuel without requiring changes to aircraft or refueling infrastructure, according to the report.
The project is expected to support the Netherlands in meeting ReFuelEU Aviation requirements. In the EU, the minimum SAF share in aviation fuel is 2% from 2025 and is set to gradually rise to 70% by 2050.
