Arkema inaugurates its new hydrogen production unit in Jarrie
In France, Arkema said its site in Jarrie, Isère, has reached a new milestone in its reorganization with the commissioning of a hydrogen production unit based on Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) technology.
Officially inaugurated on September 22, the new SMR unit marks the first phase of a major investment plan extending through 2028. Representing an investment of approximately $11.4 million, the unit supplies hydrogen to the site, the firm said.
“As announced during the January 2025 reorganization, the site is refocusing on its strategic hydrogen peroxide, chlorate and perchlorate activities. The transformation of the site will continue with the commissioning of new projects in 2026 and 2027, aimed in particular at optimizing hydrogen flows and the supply of raw materials,” said Matthieu Brisson, Director of the Jarrie site.
