INERATEC to add e-SAF production unit at Frankfurt green hydrogen-to-fuels plant
In the UK, Fuel Cells Works reported that INERATEC and Ramboll are expanding their cooperation to further develop industrial e-SAF production.
The focus of the cooperation is the expansion of the ERA ONE power-to-liquid plant in Frankfurt-Höchst with an upgrading unit that will convert synthetic raw products into standard-compliant fuels for aviation directly on site. The aim is to further advance the technological integration of the value chain and enable the production of e-SAF on an industrial scale, according to the report.
The collaboration follows on from the Pre-FEED phase, which has already been successfully completed, and both companies are currently working on the FEED phase (Front End Engineering Design) for the expansion of ERA ONE. The project addresses the upgrading of Fischer-Tropsch crude, a synthetic hydrocarbon mixture produced in the plant, into certified e-fuels, in particular e-SAF. To this end, the process steps isomerization, hydrocracking and distillation will be integrated into the existing production infrastructure, the report added.
