Perpetual Next taps Bilfinger for $1 billion biomethanol project
In the Netherlands, Perpetual Next appointed industrial services company Bilfinger as owner’s engineer for its DeltaTorr and DeltaNor biomethanol projects in Delfzijl, where the company is developing a production complex that could require up to €1 billion in investment. Bilfinger will coordinate engineering disciplines and project partners as Perpetual Next pushes the development toward a final investment decision.
The facility is designed to convert sustainable biogenic residues into biomethanol for marine fuel and chemical production, giving the Netherlands another domestic source of lower carbon methanol.
Perpetual Next said the appointment moves the project from development toward integration of the engineering, technical and commercial work needed before construction can proceed. The company is also developing large biomethanol projects in Estonia and the United States.
